The Relaxing Tones of Summertime

It looks like all of us in the Puget Sound region can officially call it summertime! As we look ahead to a whole week of 70+ degree weather (and be thankful we’re not sitting in 113 degree temperatures), here are some simple tips to help you find ultimate summer rest and relaxation.

Leave your work where it belongs. Unless you’re still in school, chances are you don’t have the luxury of having a full summer off. Although you probably can’t choose whether to work or not, you certainly try to work extra hard at work, and then leave it behind when you head home for the day. Make sure you maximize the time you spend away from the office by taking in our long evenings and early mornings relaxing and simply enjoying life.

Take advantage of the great outdoors. Boosting your mood doesn’t have to take time or money. In fact, a recent study from the University of Michigan revealed your road to positivity may just take 30 minutes in the sun. Wake up early and go for a walk, spend an evening gardening or enjoy a picnic dinner with your family. Chances are, you’ll feel more at ease AND happier.

Rejuvenate and nourish your body inside and out. Find just one day for YOU this summer. Grab a good book and spend an afternoon reading on the back porch. Snack on some of our fresh summer fruit like cherries, apricots, peaches and nectarines. Schedule a massage, or simply turn your bathroom into a day spa. Anyway you choose to do it, make sure you take advantage of summer’s laid back and carefree atmosphere. And most importantly, have some fun!
